Do you ever really feel free....
There is so often that I sit and find myself questioning if I really am truly free. I do not recall a time in my life where I was ever to sit down and make a decision about something without having to consult someone else over it. Right now even as I enter this into the journal I am debating on moving on from my current vehicle to something bigger more suited to me. But can I just go out and make it happen? No I have to check with others and discuss it, to me that is the biggest thing to make a person feel like they are a child not an adult. I am not even sure if I have ever been able to do anything decision wise that was about something I wanted. I am 47 now and in reality pushing into the phase of mid-life crisis mode. Do I want a sports car and a young blonde of course not but do I want to feel some level of life change and freedom to make it happen without input from others? Hell yes. I would like to move from my smaller Subaru Forester to something that also makes me feel bit more like a man. This one here is at a good deal, super clean, super nice. Has almost everything I want outside of it is white in color. But who knows maybe soon I will post again as the owner of it or post with something else...if it actually gets to happen. This is like the top of the line in terms of the model that it is. So that makes it nice for sure.
“I want to be free to do whatever I want to do”
ReplyDeleteIs it really achievable in life no probably not especially when you have other people in your life.
Freedom comes in many guises:
1. Financial Freedom
2. Time freedom
3. Emotional Freedom
4. Mental/Intellectual Freedom
5. Physical Freedom
6. Spiritual Freedom
7. Social Freedom
8. Geographic Freedom
Taking all of the above into consideration: Is Total Freedom Ever Achievable?
In short: Not really — at least not in the absolute sense. This is due to trade offs. To get one freedom you must sacrifice another. For instance you want financial freedom. That often requires work and discipline, which limits time freedom.
We live in interconnected societies. Our freedom inevitably impacts others. For example, freedom of speech doesn’t include inciting violence.
Biological and physical constraints will always exist.
I guess some people do reach a high level of freedom
people live lives where they feel free — financially secure, emotionally balanced, spiritually fulfilled.
Freedom often comes from within. Philosophers like the Stoics believed that true freedom is mastering how you respond to life, not controlling life itself.
Total freedom in the purest sense may be a myth — but meaningful freedom is very real and attainable. It’s often a balance, a journey, and a practice rather than a destination.
